What did you think of the result of the federal election?

Because of the arrogance of the Conservative Gov't. & the PM, the taxpayers are left with a hefty bill. This election served absolutely no purpose; nothing has changed. In my city alone, every MP kept their seat from the last election. The Conservative Gov't. owes the taxpayers a refund of the money they pilfered away because of this unnecesaary election. Yes, I did vote.

YEAH!! Congratulations Steven Harper. You ran an excellent campaign and witheld negative comments, etc. until you had NO choice and had to defend against the horrendous attacks on you. As far as Dion and Layton are concerned - they are idiots thinking Canadian's would go for more tax or in NDP fashion, extreme debt like Bob Rae did in Ontario.
The only way this could be better was if Steven Harper had gotten his majority. Thanks to the horrid mud slinging and lying by Dion and Layton and the anyone but campaign (real democratic) of Williams, this did not happen. However, there is a much stronger minority government now -all opposition parties will have to band 100% together to stall to much in Parliment. I for one cannot stand Liberal or NDP- Taxes/ Unions are ruining our country by pushing wages and prices up so high that in a small, tourist based, no industry area of the province, small employers cannot afford to hire and in large numbers are closing and putting people out of work

What a total waste of time and money this election has been.
This country has so many needs! We need all parties to start working together for the betterment of all canadians. People on fixed incomes, young people who cannot get a decent paying job, and all of us who are over-taxed - we all need a break. Our young people have left Atlantic Canada for jobs in Alberta. Families are falling apart, both because spouses are living so far away, and because of the stress of the financial strains they face every day. We need a break and we need it now!

It is so sad to see the waste of money spent on this election which is plain to see was held in hopes that the PC's would gain control of the government and allow them to do as they please.
This money would have gone along way in training for out of work citizens. Updating the unemployment act to allow a easy access to receive once you lose your job and longer weeks to collect. New training programs.
Lets get Canadians working and then watch our economy grow and improve the life of its citizens.

I am to ashamed to be a Canadian as of today. It's a disgrace that they voted Steven Harper in after knowing what he did to Canadians the last for years. He screwed up the health care and economy big time. And what is gonna make him any different this time. If anything he will be worst. Don't worry he will be going after the health care more this time and who knows then the child tax benifit. I think it was a big mistake voting him in again. And he also said he didnt need NFLD and Lab. votes and that , no might not need this this time but like the old saying what goes around comes around but comes around twice has hard and that fact is true. Nfld and Lab is a part of Canada he should be treating them with the same has other provinces in Canada. They are no diff from the rest. Danny Williams have done the Province excellent so far. For instance Nfld is no longer considered a poor provice. Danny fought for what Nfld and Lab should have had a long time ago. Great job Danny. Keep it up!!

The poor voter turn out of this election is an indication of a need for change in our present electoral system. It doesn't matter how PM Harper tries to justify his reasons for calling this election. The bottom line is,it was because of his high approval rating in the polls at the time. He thought he could get a majority government. WRONG. All Federal Parties should firstly have the best interests of the citizens of this country at heart and not their own partisan politics. Given the outcome yet again of another minority government, is an indication that none of the present party leaders are dynamic enough to capture the hearts of Canadians. What we need is another strong leader like Pierre Trudeau, Lester B. Pearson or William Lyon Mackenzie King to come along. All parties at this present time given the current state of the world economy have to WORK TOGETHER to find a solution to keep our country strong and vibarant. THEY CAN START BY LOWERING OUR TAXES.

Another minority government. What a waste of taxpayer dollars this election turned out to be. Hope this time around the "boys" in Ottawa can play nice and work together in the best interests of the country, not their own political parties.

41% of canadians including me have no any interest of this election. Why? Conservetives were looking for a good time to go for a majority. Not for peoples well being. They failed. But Peoples have clearly shown their disgust to conservetives and as well as sleepy oposition too.

We are all missing the big picture. Firstly, what good is a strong economy when we don't have a healthy earth to sustain it? I can hear the mumble..."Another freaking tree hugger"...actually a humanitarian and communitarian. I have voted Liberal in the past, I voted for Harper when he was first elected because I thought he reflected the concerns of people of my age with children. He has gotten tougher on crime but he ignored the environment and health care which go hand in hand!!? What pissed me off the most is that he implemented a law limiting elections to every four years and then broke his own law, his motivation? He thought he could get a majority? All I know is that it was a waste of MONEY, with a similar outcome, lowest turnout and showed an American style trash campaign led in large part by the Conservatives...that is NOT Canadian. My 9 year old daughter saw Elizabeth May at a homeless shelter and asked us to vote Green. We did because it's our message- humility.

Stephen Harper has satisfied his ego, forced an election that was not necessary, and still did not get the majority he so desperately wanted. I have not read all the comments attached here but was impressed to see there were already 29 page worth. It is obvious people have strong feelings about this whole ordeal.
Stephen Harper take note! The people of Canada who are speaking are very clear in their beliefs. This money could have been spent better!
